About the dataset on Policy Advisory Systems

Welcome to the OECD dataset on Policy Advisory Systems.

The dataset provides information on information on policy advisory systems at arm’s length of government - networks or clusters of advisory bodies - in 15 OECD member countries as well as in Lithuania and Peru. It includes key information regarding the set-up and functioning of such policy advisory systems across responding countries.

The data are protected by copyright and we request that you be sure to cite the OECD as the source (OECD dataset on Policy Advisory Systems). Furthermore, to help us track the impact of this dataset, we would appreciate receiving electronic copies of any papers that cite the database, to be sent to the following address: stephane.jacobzone@oecd.org

About this Survey

The content of the database was collected using an online questionnaire that inlcuded a glossary. The Reform of the Public Sector Division of the OECD Directorate for Public Governance conducted this survey between the second and fourth quarter of 2016.

The survey was completed by delegates to the Public Governance Committee (liaising with other stakeholders when relevant). The written questionnaires were complemented by interviews with several delegates to the Public Governance Committee and senior representatives from advisory bodies, who provided information from the view of the central/federal level of government.

The responses were presented at the 54th session of the Public Governance Committee in November 2016. Based on dialogue with countries, a number of responses have been updated and are now available online.
The OECD publication Policy Advisory Systems: Supporting Good Governance and Sound Public Decision Making presents a detailed analysis of the results of the survey.
